James Nosegay Bowen, MSW, LSW

James Nosegay Bowen is a clinical social worker, somatic practitioner, and herbalist in Pittsburgh, PA who is committed to individual and collective resilience and joy.

They see clinical practice as a way of deepening relationship to bodies, land, purpose, and each other.

They view their work as an offering towards increasing the capacity of individuals and communities to show up in the ways they want to and bring their gifts into the world.

James draws upon their training from the Smith College School of Social Work, Somatic Experiencing International, 7+ years of clinical herbal practice, and 10+ years in harm reduction and collective organizing. They are humbled and honored to be part of lineages of those working with plants, bodies, and change.

They continue to seek ways to de-individualize responsibilities of care and health and place them in common. They consider themself a highly-informed, curious non-expert and perpetual student, excited to collaborate to create support, pleasure and change. They specialize in working with queer and trans folks using somatic (body-based) and relational approaches.

James has openings for new clients through Alliance Therapy Center and accepts a variety of insurance plans.
